NEW YORK – Multiple grand slam tennis champion, World No. 3 and entrepreneur Venus Williams’ new book, Come To Win: Business Leaders, Artists, Doctors, and Other Visionaries on How Sports Can Help You Top Your Profession, has reached No. 5 on the New York Times Hardcover Advice and How To bestseller list. The book will appear in the New York Times published list on Sunday, July 25, and continue to be featured in bookstores throughout the country.
Along with an impressive group of business leaders (Jack Welch, Ken Chennault, Phil Knight, etc.), former pros (Magic Johnson, Billie Jean King, etc.), creative executives (Vera Wang, Denzel Washington, Marcus Samuelson, etc.), politicians (Bill Clinton, Condoleeza Rice, etc.), and doctors (Dr. James Andrews, Dr. Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, etc.), Venus serves up a book of wisdom that shows how to turn a sports background into successes off the field. Co-authored with journalist Kelly E. Carter, Come To Win has received recent acclaim from numerous sources, none more poignant than the Library Journal, which stated, “Containing gems of biographical information not available elsewhere, this presents inspirational readings on how sports can make a significant difference and teach ‘life lessons.’ It is recommended not only to those who are running businesses but also to young adults.”
“Having my book on the New York Times bestseller list is a truly incredible feeling,” said Williams. “I am so grateful to my co-author Kelly Carter, and all of the incredible individuals that participated in this project. It is their stories and advice that I believe can be an inspiration to everyone who reads it.”
Other praise for the book came from journalist Bonnie Ford, who wrote, “This book hammers home the point that successful people don't always win, but they nearly always learn something useful when they lose. It's a timeless message.”
In addition, Williams has appeared on Good Morning America, CBS Early Show, CNN, Bloomberg, BET, multiple ESPN shows and been featured in articles from Essence, the Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press, and more regarding the book.
