Everything will remain the same in 2012. There will be no minimum tournaments to achieve a national ranking, but rather the best of a maximum of three tournaments to determine your final ranking for that ranking year.  It is our goal to encourage play so we are awarding participation points for each tournament you compete in.  While all players who play in a tournament will receive a national ranking it will be impossible for a person who does not win a match in a year to have a higher ranking than someone with a win.

The "points" tables will be assigned based on the highest sanction level and draw format of each tournament, ensuring a player knows what his/her potential points for each tournament will be.  There are four categories of tournaments within the ranking system:

Tournament Designations

Category I National:  These tournaments are sanctioned at the highest level the USTA offers.  They are sanctioned through the national office and offer the highest ranking points.

Super Category II National:  This is a newer tournament type for USTA Wheelchair Tennis.  Achieving a "Super" status in the Category II National happens by having a draw size of nine or higher in the previous year as a Category II. A tournament can have some divisions with a "Super" status and some with the traditional Category II status. These events are sanctioned through the Section Office and approved by the National Office.

Category II National:  These tournaments are sanctioned at the Section Office and approved at the National Office.  These events offer the lowest level of ranking points of all the "national" tournaments.

Local/Sectional:  These events are sanctioned by the Section or District office only.  They are a critical part of growing wheelchair tennis.  While they offer the lowest level of ranking points overall, they boost participation and develop the future of the sport.

Note: Playing a match (win or loss) in any one tournament will offer you the chance to be on the ranking list.

The current standings list is comprised of players who have played at least 1 (one) match in at least 1 (one) National Ranking Tournament. The list includes tournaments played 12 (twelve) months prior to the list publish date.
