The Morning Line by Betsy Ross - August 12, 2012

Ryan Harrison
Good morning from the Linder Family Tennis Center, where the Western & Southern Open will get into action in earnest Sunday, with the men’s main draw starting later in the afternoon. While early action completes the qualifying matches, the afternoon features American Ryan Harrison facing Bernard Tomic, then in the evening, former W&S Open finalist James Blake takes on Kevin Anderson.
Already the W&S Open is becoming the place to be this weekend, with the second-highest single session attendance showing up on Saturday. Nearly 13,000 fans turned out for Kids’ Day Saturday, second only to the record attendance of 13,204 for last year’s Saturday qualifying session.
Sunday is Wellington Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine High School Day, featuring player demonstrations, lunch and a Day Session ticket. Also, the practice court schedule is out for Sunday. Court 5 is the busy court for practice, with Andy Roddick, Roger Federer and more. You can find the practice court schedule easily on the mobile app for the tournament. Just type in and you’ll have tournament info, practice schedules and more, right in the palm of your hand!
And, congratulations to the newest members of the Cincinnati Tennis Hall of Fame, inducted Saturday: Paul Flory, Phil Smith, Joanne Frazer and senior player George McCabe. You all have done so much to make the Western & Southern Open the world-class event it is today.
