Day 8 Semifinals

On the men's side, Daniil Medvedev defeated world No. 1 Novak Djokovic 3-6,6-3,6-3. The 23-year-old Russian continues his astonishing form as he has reached his third final in as many weeks. He leads the ATP for match wins with 43 this season. 

 

The defeat snapped Djokovic's 10-match winning streak, and ended his bid for a second straight Cincinnati title. 

 

David Goffin reached his first ATP Masters 1000 final defeating Richard Gasquet 6-3,6-4. Goffin, the semifinalist here last year was 0-4 in Masters 1000 semifinals coming into today's match. He is now the first player from Belgium to reach an ATP Masters 1000 final.

 

Svetlana Kuznetsova is into the Cincinnati final after beating Ash Barty 6-3,6-4. Kuznetsova has beaten three top 10 players at a tournament for the first time in her career. Kuznetsova, a two-time Major champion, is into her first final in just over one year. 

 

Barty, who was top seed despite dropping to No. 2 in the rankings this week, would have returned to the WTA's No. 1 spot with a win Saturday. 

 

In an all-American semifinal, Madison Keys defeated Sofia Kenin 7-5,6-4. Keys, a former US Open runner-up, hit 14 aces in the match against the 20-year-old Kenin. 

 

Women's doubles final finished the night on Centre Court as Lucie Hradecka and Andrea Klepac defeated the duo of Anna-Lena Groenfeld and Demi Schuurs 6-4,6-1. The pair won their first title together as Hradecka earned her record third title here in Cincinnati.
