Best Bites from Saturday

Western & Southern Open semifinalists met with the media following their matches Saturday.

Ashleigh Barty on reaching the women’s singles finals...

“I feel like it's been a really nice week of building momentum both kind of in the way I have been playing my matches and obviously to be in another match playing for a title is really exciting, particularly here

at Cincinnati. It's such a world-class event, an event that's been going on for years and years. To be able to play tomorrow in a final match is really cool.”

Angelique Kerber on Ashleigh Barty…

“She has so much confidence right now. She plays so well, and she serves well. I think this is also a big weapon from her. She's just playing really tricky, as well. She knows where to put the ball and how to play in the moments where it's really important. So, I think the whole game of hers is really tough, and that's why she's there where she is.”

Jil Teichmann on the opportunity to play in the women’s singles final...

“To me, it's perfect. I really like it. It's a nice challenge. Playing center court against World No. 1 in a final, it's perfect. It's a really nice challenge, and I'll go for it.”

Andrey Rublev on defeating top-seeded Daniil Medvedev and reaching the singles final…

“To beat Daniil, to only show a great game is not enough. You need to be physically ready because you will have to run a lot and you have to play each point long rally. There will be almost no free points. You have to be also mentally strong. So, to beat Daniil, you have to do these three things really

well. It's nice I did well today, both game-wise, physical-wise, and mental-wise, in which some matches I can be mentally and physically not good. But because I'm showing great shots, it's enough to win. Here you need to show all three things. I'm happy that I showed them today.”
