Another record day ahead at the Western & Southern Open!

Good morning from the Lindner Family Tennis Center, where we’re expecting another record crowd for both the day and evening sessions of world-class tennis. If you have a ticket for today’s day session, good for you—Wednesday’s Day session is completely at capacity with no tickets available either at the Tournament or through Ticketmaster. And if you’re going to the day session, you’ll have the chance to see defending champion Serena Williams along with Novak Djokovic, who is going for the Masters Slam. If you want to attend tonight’s session, you’ll see Vika Azarenka on Center Court, and Mardy Fish, on his farewell tour, playing at the Grandstand Court facing Andy Murray. Tickets are available for Center Court but at a VERY limited quantity. Go to Ticketmaster as soon as possible before the night session is sold out as well.

Tuesday’s recap

Fan favorite and defending champion Roger Federer made his first appearance at this year’s Western & Southern Open and advanced easily, but the highly anticipated match between Venus Williams and Ana Ivanovic didn’t happen, as Venus withdrew because of illness. Off the court, fans helped set a number of attendance records, including a single session record of 14,380 spectators for Tuesday’s Day session, and a single day record of 25,898 for the entire day Tuesday. By the way, each of the first seven sessions of the 2015 tournament have set the record attendance mark for that particular session.

What to do and see today

Have you checked out the terrific music lineup yet? Arrive early to beat the traffic and hear the great sounds of Mike McIntire at 10 a.m., Cosmo’s Moon at 11:30 a.m., Old Green Eyes at 5 p.m., Wilder at 7:15 p.m. and DJ Kenneth Wright to take you through the evening starting at 9:45 p.m. At the Robert Mondavi Wine Garden, you’ll get to sample bites from former USA Chef of the Year Todd Kelly from Orchid’s at the Palm Court starting at 5:30 p.m.
