Defending champ Federer takes the court at the Western & Southern Open
Good morning from the Western & Southern Open! Lots of bonus tennis on the schedule today as showers backed up Monday’s play. Play was interrupted three times for a total delay of just under three hours because of the rain, and one singles match between Donaldson and Mahut, had to be suspended with Donaldson leading. Also, three WTA doubles matches were postponed and will be finished on Tuesday.
Scheduled second round matches include Roger Federer’s opener at the Western & Southern against Bautista Agut, as well as Venus Williams facing number 9 in the world Ana Ivanovic, both on Center Court.
Speaking of Center Court, this reminder regarding tickets: All Center Court tickets for the day sessions today, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19 (both beginning at 11 am) are sold out. Grounds passes for those sessions are extremely limited. If you want to come out, your best bet is to either purchase a grounds pass on Ticketmaster and print the ticket at home, or call the tournament ticket office before coming to the Tennis Center.
If you’ve already been to the Linder Family Tennis Center, we hope you’ve had the chance to spend some time in the food court area and listen to the great music on the Dayton International Airport Stage, the Robert Mondavi Wine Garden and the Main North Gate. Music today includes Shiny Old Soul, Jess Lamb and Daniel Wayne and the Silver Lines. Enjoy the music and the tennis, and we’ll see you Around the Grounds!
