It’s Championship Sunday at the Western & Southern Open
Good morning from the Lindner Family Tennis Center, where the championship matchups could not be much better. The world’s number one players, Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic, play for titles, while six-time Western & Southern Open winner Roger Federer goes for lucky number seven.
It’s the fifth time Djokovic has been in the W&S Open final, but has yet to win in Mason. If he does, he’ll be the only man to win the Golden Masters series, with at least one victory at each of the ATP Masters events. For Federer, the W&S Open is one of six events where he has won at least six titles.
Serena is looking to defend her Western & Southern Open title, and it’s the third straight year she has been in the finals here. She has won consecutive titles at 10 tournaments in her career.
One more walk around the grounds..
And while you’re strolling, make sure you check out the mural of tennis champions, finished this week during the tournament. You can see former W&S Open winners Andre Agassi, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and more tennis legends immortalized in this mural. See it on the east side of the Center Court stands.
It’s the Year of the Fan…
Once again it’s been a record turnout so far at the Western & Southern Open. We thank everyone who made it out to the Lindner Family Tennis Center this year to make it the best ever Tournament! And don’t forget to mark your calendars for August 13-21, the dates for the 2016 Western & Southern Open. And we’ll see you Around the Grounds next year!
