Three Days of World Class Tennis Remain at Western & Southern Open
It’s Quarterfinal Friday here at the Western & Southern Open and it promises to be another packed day and night at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason. Another ticket alert for you: Even though there are NO tickets available for Center Court for either session on Friday, you can still purchase grounds passes for both day and night sessions. Your best bet is to go to Ticketmaster and print tickets at home, or call the Tournament office before you come out because passes are selling fast!
Now, let’s talk tennis: The quarterfinals mean we’ll see some terrific matches today, starting with number one in the world, Novak Djokovic against Stan Wawrinka in a rematch of the French Open final (which Wawrinka won). After that it’s the women’s number one, Serena Williams, against Ana Ivanovic. Also this morning, a former number one in the world, Martina Hingis, will be on Grandstand court in a doubles match. She and partner Sania Mirza are top seed, facing wild card doubles team Christina McHale and CoCo Vandeweghe from the USA.
Coming to the Lindner Family Tennis Center early and want to watch practice? You’ll see the kiosks all around the center listing practice times and locations for the players. At 1 p.m. on Court 7 you’ll be able to take in an exhibition match by USTA Wheelchair Tennis. Want a selfie with Roger Federer? If you missed him earlier this week, Apex by Sunglass Hut has the next best thing: A selfie station inside the gates, right by the players’ main entrance on the west side of the Center. Take a selfie at our players’ mural and add the hashtag #shadesofgreatness to have your picture shared on the social wall and Center Court, courtesy of Apex by Sunglass Hut!
Today, you’ll be able to relax to the music of Chris Cusentino, G. Burton Story, Queen City Silver Stars, Shivering Timbers and DJ Kenneth Wright throughout the afternoon and evening. And don’t forget to stop by the Robert Mondavi Wine Garden for the chef demonstration, led by Celebrity Chef Danny Combs, starting at 5:30 p.m. Come on out for the start of a fantastic weekend of world class tennis, and we’ll see you Around the Grounds!
