Indian Wells, Calif. – The Hawaii Section women’s team, known as the Wailea Suns, was in fashion at the 2010 USTA League 3.5 Senior National Championships.
After winning their Sectional Championships, team captain Dottie Crouzet-Pascal and her teammates decided to have a team uniform made for their appearance at this weekend’s USTA Nationals at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

A friend of the team, which is based in Maui, worked from a pattern to design skirts, which were hand-sewed for all nine team members.

The skirts feature a Hawaiian-theme design with tropical colors. The team complimented the skirts with matching light pink shirts.

"We’re from Maui and we felt that we would like to show something from Hawaii since we’re representing the state of Hawaii," Crouzet-Pascal said. "These Hawaiian print skirts with the Hibiscus, which is our state flower, is the perfect pattern."

If the Hawaii senior women advance to Sunday’s semifinals, Crouzet-Pascal said they have a special team uniform ready to wear – a black and white "Zebra" skirt.
