American standout Ryan Harrison was granted a Wild Card for the 2011 Western & Southern Open. Harrison is experiencing a remarkable run at the Olympus US Open Series, fighting his way to two straight semifinals at both the Atlanta Tennis Championships in mid-July and the Farmers Classic this past week in Los Angeles.
Harrison was defeated in both semifinals matches by Mardy Fish, who currently leads the Olympus US Open Series Bonus Challenge Standings and is at a career high ranking of No. 8.
Harrison has improved nearly 40 spots in the ATP Rankings to No. 82 in the past two weeks and is currently third in the Olympus US Open Series Bonus Challenge Standings. In 2008, he became the 11th player in the Open Era to win an ATP World Tour match before the age of 16 (the first since Rafael Nadal, in 2002).
Harrison’s past Cincinnati appearances include 2008 and 2009, where he was defeated in the first round of the Qualifying draw both years. This time, he’ll enter the main draw along-side fellow American Fish.
