2011 will be the first year that the men and women will share the final session, meaning twice the tennis for fans who come out to the site on Finals Sunday.

Last year, four-time Cincinnati Champion Roger Federer defeated Mardy Fish in a three-set-thriller, leaving fans gratified for both men’s’ efforts. Fish won the first set in a tie-breaker, but Federer would come back to win the match 6-7(5), 7-6(1), 6-4. Fish became only the seventh wild card to reach the finals since wild cards first appeared in Cincinnati in 1976.

In the women’s final in 2010 Kim Clijsters defeated Maria Sharapova, also in a close three-setter. Sharapova took the first set, but after returning from a rain delay, Clijsters would prevail 2-6, 7-6(4), 6-2. All four of last year’s finalists are expected to be back this year.
