BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) The Czech Republic reached its third consecutive Fed Cup semifinals Sunday, taking an insurmountable 3-0 lead over Slovakia when Petra Kvitova beat Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 6-2 in the first reverse singles match.

The Czech Republic will face Belgium or the United States in the semifinals in April.

The 18th-ranked Kvitova got off to a strong start on the hard courts at Sibamac Arena, breaking Hantuchova twice to take a 5-1 lead in the first set. Hantuchova, a former top-10 player now ranked 32nd, fought back briefly before Kvitova converted her sixth set point in the 10th game.

In the second set, Kvitova cruised to a 4-0 lead and converted her first match point with an ace. Kvitova reached the Australian Open quarterfinals.
