All in the Foster Family

While her mother competes in Tucson, Meghan Foster and her USTA Eastern mates will batlle for a national title in Surprise.
Jane Foster and her daughter Meghan have always shared a love for tennis. What started out as a fun hobby for the two has turned into something that will bond them for a lifetime.

While Meghan celebrated her USTA Eastern 14U Advanced team’s trip to the 14 & Under Jr. Team Tennis National Championships, her mother had some celebrating of her own to do. Jane’s USTA League 4.0 team would also be competing in nationals. However, this tournament would take place in Tucson, a few hundred miles from Meghan’s tournament in Surprise, and would be taking place on the exact same weekend.

"I had already booked my ticket to Surprise when I found out that I’d be playing in my tournament the same weekend," Jane said. With the thought of missing her daughter's Championship tournament laying heavy on her mind, Jane made a decision to support her daughter any way she could.

"I flew to Surprise with Meghan like I had originally planned and while she practiced with her team I got the opportunity to work out with some of the other tennis playing parents," she stated. "I knew if I couldn’t be there for the whole tournament I wanted to at least be there to wish her luck." The very next morning Jane left Surprise and drove the 250 miles to Tucson to join her team at their National event.

"It’s been so inspiring to see Meghan progress and become such a beautiful and talented young lady," Jane said. "It’s funny because I actually try to avoid practicing with her now because in all honesty, she’s probably better than I am. I wish I could be there to see her play but I know she will do great whether I’m there or not."

Although the duo won't be together to cheer each other on, they can find comfort in knowing that there could be two Championship trophies at the Foster house on Monday morning.
