MASON – Eleven of the 14 seeds in the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters qualifying draw advanced into the final round with wins on Sunday.
Australian
Chris Guccione recorded the biggest upset of the day, knocking off No. 5 seed
Andrey Golubev 7-6(5) 6-4.
Lukasz Kubot, who got into the draw as an alternate, picked up a 6-1 6-2 win over No. 9 seed
Teimuraz Gabashvili.
American
Rajeev Ram from Carmel, Ind., defated No. 13 seed
Ernests Gulbis, 3-6 6-3 6-4. Ram won his first career title earlier this year in Newport.
Ram is joined in the final round of qualifying on Sunday by fellow Americans
Robert Kendrick and
Kevin Kim.
The final round of qualifying begins at 10 am on Sunday. The seven winners of those matches will move into the main draw.
