Around the Grounds
Friday, August 16
Good afternoon from the Western & Southern Open! Great tennis already today, and the epic matchup of #XXXI Federer vs Nadal is yet to come tonight. We’re expecting another great crowd this evening, so make plans to come out early and get a good parking spot to settle in for world-class tennis.
Today was a special day on the grounds as Emirates Airline held its youth clinic and equipment donation event this morning. Brian Gottfried helped lead the clinic for 30 youngsters, and Emirates made a donation of tennis equipment to the USTA National Junior Tennis & Learning Program.
Also today, USTA held its annual wheelchair tennis exhibition, with players on court demonstrating the game. The USTA is the first National Governing Body of both Olympic and Paralympic tennis governing the Paralympic, ParaPan American Games and World Team Cup events. Wheelchair athletes of all ages and backgrounds are provided with programming and developmental opportunities throughout the United States.

Tonight, come early and relax to the music of the Sunburners from 5 until 7 p.m., then Magnolia Mountain starting at 8:30 p.m. And when you come in the gate you’ll get a free tennis ball so you can be part of the Fanfare Tennis Ball Toss between matches!
